Wetland Watchers

Report on Trip with the Wetland Watchers
by Kirsty McColm

On the 30th of September 10 excited children met at leswalt Village Hall. Everyone wanted to get there as soon as possible because they wanted to know what was going to happen!

By the time we got there (Newton Stewart), Mr Hopkins took us to see a pond. When he first came it was just a marshy land (a bit of boggy land). And now he has changed it into a lovely bit of land that attracts wildlife. He even said there was an otter in the pond!

After that we went back to the bus and we went through a village and we, some of us, saw a lovely red squirrel. We parked up the bus and jumped out. Mr Hopkins told us some of the most common birds and at which time of year they could be seen and told us about other animals. At this point we were all hungry so we had our lunch.

Then we had a little walk up into the woods. After that we went to see some waterfalls and some animals were there too!

Then we went to Glentrool visitor centre and there Jane was kind and got us a sweetie each. Then Robert said,” Let’s have a challenge for his £5 NOTE!!!!!!!”

At the end of the day everyone was so tired we almost fell asleep on the way home!!!
