The garden consists of a series of raised beds linked by all ability paths. Seats and picnic benches have been provided to further enhance your visit. The creation of the garden, originally intended to be of purely multi sensory appeal and now including native plants and young trees, has resulted in the promotion of a wider diversity of wildlife both in the garden and in the wetland. The area was previously a rough, marshy patch of farm land which has been developed into a valuable environmental and recreational asset. A number of local organisations, including Leswalt Rainbows, Brownie Guides, Aldouran Wetland Watchers (Youth Group) and Dumfries and Galloway College have assisted Leswalt Community Association with the creation and maintenance of the garden and wetland. |
